Haunted Week!!

{This Girl Reads}

Ever had the feeling that someone was watching you? It just might be the spirit of a book you haven't put to rest.

Today I'll feature five books I began, but never finished.

* The Shining
* Portrait of An Artist as a Young Man
* Pet Sematary
* Gone with the Wind
* Where the Red Fern Grows

How about you...what book is haunting you?

  1. I am just finishing The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot based on the true story of the women behind the HeLa cells. It's haunting me because the moral/ethical issues raised in this book are real-life scary. If you haven't read it, try it. A compelling read with themes that will keep you up at night!

    1. Elizabeth!
      Thank you so much for stopping in! You are just lovely. The Immortal Life sounds very interesting. I'll have to check it out. I like staying up all night for a good book! It's one of my favorite things.

  2. I have a history book on Montana that I began months ago, but other books keep creeping above it on the pile. I really want to finish the book and it just sits on my nightstand taunting me into getting it read! Otherwise only don't finish books I don't like, so those don't haunt me.

    1. MK,

      Not finishing books you don't like and letting it go...sounds like a good policy to me! History of Montana...what's that one? I love history. Nearly changed my major. Nearly. :)

      Thank you for stopping in!

  3. THE SHINING is worth finishing. Of all the Stephen King works I've read, it is my favorite of his novels.

    1. Lisa,

      Thank you so much for stopping by. I've had my husband tell me the story of The Shining so I'm not freaked out. Nope, still freaked. I have to hide the book, otherwise I have nightmares.

      I might try it again. I"ll screw on my brave face and give it a go. :)

      I hope you're doing well!

  4. I cried at the end of The Red Fern Grows, but I haven't read it sense, so I'm not sure it'd be worth reading. :)

    Never read any of the others, though. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :D

    1. Born Bookish,

      Glad I could help. :) I think the reason I never read the whole book is because of the movie. Just too many tears. Thinking back, as an adult, it probably wouldn't be as bad and I think. But, it's amazing what makes an impact on us as children.

      Thank you so much for stopping in! So very nice to meet you!

  6. Betrayal by Danielle Steele. I read it because I figured I couldn't be a true romance author and never have read a Danielle Steele book. It was awful. I feel like a romantce author traitor. :)

    1. RT Wolfe,

      Funny. Couldn't be a true romance author. It's interesting what we put ourselves through because we think we should. Thank you so much for the support! I really appreciate you dropping in!

      Happy Halloween!!
